Sibley Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice describes the information Sibley County Released Inmates receives, how it is used, and when it may be shared. It covers direct messages, technical information generated during a visit, cookies, and queries entered into partner search tools. By using the site, a visitor accepts these practices. Official Sibley County, Minnesota DOC, court, VINE, BOP, and ICE services have separate privacy rules that apply after a visitor follows an outbound link.

Information You Submit

Partner Search Queries

A name, location, or other term entered in a search box is transmitted to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Sibley County Released Inmates does not store or log those query terms on its own systems. The provider's privacy terms govern its receipt and handling of the search.

Messages Sent to Us

If a visitor sends an email or contact-form message, we retain the supplied address and message long enough to review and answer it. We do not share that correspondence outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Technical Visit Information

Routine server, analytics, and advertising technologies may record technical details when a page loads. Those details can include:

  • The visitor's Internet Protocol address.
  • The browser name and version in use.
  • The device category and operating system.
  • The pages opened and time spent on them.
  • The referring website, when that information is available.
  • The date and time of the request.

Cookie Controls

Cookies help measure how visitors use the resource and may support advertising or partner functions. A browser can reject or remove cookies. Blocking them may change how some search, preference, or measurement features behave.

How Information Supports Operations

Collected information is used only for ordinary site, search-routing, measurement, and advertising functions. In practice, it may help us:

  • Operate the pages and improve load performance.
  • Send a submitted search to the selected partner service.
  • Understand which Sibley County record topics are useful.
  • Identify errors, broken links, and other technical failures.
  • Display advertising that may reflect a visitor's interests.

Privacy on Linked Services

Links may lead to the Sibley County Sheriff's Office, the Minnesota DOC data-practices office, Minnesota court-record portals, VINE or Minnesota Haven, BOP or ICE locators, and outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's own privacy policy and data practices control.

Advertising partners may use their own technology to recognize activity across different websites and select interest-based advertising. That processing occurs on the partner's systems, not within the local pages operated by Sibley County Released Inmates.

Parties That May Receive Data

We do not sell personal information. Limited information may be processed or disclosed to the following parties when needed for the stated function:

  • Search partners that receive and answer submitted queries.
  • Analytics providers that measure visits and page performance.
  • Advertising networks that deliver or measure ads.
  • Law-enforcement agencies or government bodies acting under a valid legal order.

Reasonable Security Measures

We use customary administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to a public reference site. No internet transmission, connected service, or storage system is completely secure. Sibley County Released Inmates cannot promise that a breach, interception, loss, or misuse will never occur.

Visitors Under Eighteen

This resource is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted personal data may use the Contacts page to request review and deletion.

Choices About Personal Data

Subject to applicable law and reasonable identity verification, a visitor may ask us to take these steps for personal information held directly by this private site:

  • Provide a copy of the personal data we maintain.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate.
  • Delete information when a valid erasure right applies.
  • Stop certain forms of processing where an opt-out right applies.

These requests do not control records maintained by Sibley County or another government office. Public access and data-subject rights for county government records arise under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, including Minnesota Statutes chapter 13, and must be directed to the agency that holds the record.

Changes to This Notice

We may revise this Privacy Notice as site practices, providers, or legal duties change. A revised notice will be posted on this page and identified by its new effective date. Continued use after publication means the updated practices apply.
